Faye Baker

Brenda Faye Baker, age 79, of Northport, Ala., went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21, 2024. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Glenn Kennedy and Bro. Eric Boykin officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Baker; parents, Frances and Jesse Bruce; brothers, Robert Bruce and Kenneth Bruce; and her sister, Louise Garrett.

She leaves behind her son, Rusty Baker (Tanya); daughter, Karen Cottingham (David); grandson, Jake Baker (Heather); granddaughter, Raegan Ciszek (Derek); grandson, Jonathan Cottingham (Aleca); great-grandchildren, Emery and Evan Baker; Raelee Ciszek; Addie and Keegan Ciszek; Ellie and Jesse Cottingham and Joey Duffy; sister, Linda Weaver; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Faye loved Jake, Raegan and Jonathan and her great-grandchildren dearly and unconditionally, but she was known as Maw Maw to many. Her home was always open, her kitchen was always stocked, and her heart was made full by helping others. Maw Maw never met a stranger. She was everyone’s help in time of need. She drove bus 50 for Tuscaloosa County for over 15 years before retiring to keep her grandchildren. She was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and loved being a part of their Sew Blessed Ministry.

Pallbearers will be Jake Baker, Jonathan Cottingham, Derek Ciszek, Lee Simmons, Marshall Ball, and David McCool.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerry and Mary Perkins, Luke and Kristy Smith, Betty Oliver, Janis Hanks, Mt. Olive Baptist Church and The Sew Blessed Ministry, Renee Maldonado, Rebecca Gurley, Dr. Debra Davis and staff, Jan Boothe and the Amedisys Home Health and Rehab, Nursing staff at Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of West Alabama or the Sew Blessed Ministry at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
