Bonnie Lynn Thorpe NORTHPORT - Bonnie Lynn Thorpe, age 70, of Northport, died February 17, 2017, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Scott Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Carolwood Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her father, William G. Thorpe; mother, Mary Ann Thorpe and two brothers, William D. Thorpe and Charles E. Thorpe. Survivors include her sisters, Grace Foster of Northport, Ala., Jean Truckley of Brackenridge, Pa., Peggy Moose of San Antonio, Texas and Shirley Johnson of Leicester, N.C.; and brother, Jim Thorpe of Tarentum, Pa. Bonnie was a great caregiver to many loved ones and an infamous pet lover to her dog Drake. She was also a much loved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. While born in Natrona Heights, Pa., she lived a major portion of her life in Knoxville, Tenn. and Northport, Ala. She worked at the Fairfield Inn in Knoxville, Tenn. as a housekeeper and van driver. Bonnie enjoyed talking to people. She had a sarcastic sense of humor which was bound to make you laugh. In August 2014, she moved to Northport, Ala. to live with her sister Mary Grace Foster. While living with her sister, she attended Englewood Baptist Church and was saved on July 31, 2016 after that she was baptized while being confined to a wheelchair. During her extended illness she was provided with outstanding care by the Alabama Hospice Care team who was with her during her final moments on this earth. Special thanks to those caregivers: Sheila Gordon Robertson, Cassandra Todd, Mildred Allen, Scott Peters (pastor) and Lisa Pennington. Pallbearers will be David Foster, Robert Slee, Jared Hodges, Stan Woods, Phillip Williams and Jimmy Lunceford. Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Slee, Ty Pennington, Alex Skelton, Reese Hodges, Dr. Stephen Browne and Jaden Jones.
