Bobbie Jean Vaughn, 92, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away Dec 10th, 2021 at Noland Hospital in Tuscaloosa, AL.
She was born to Troy C. Morgan and Evelyn Jones Morgan, March 19th, 1929 in Meridian, MS. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1946.
In 1948, she met the love of her life, the late Leon Vaughn, playing piano in the band at a dance in Meridian. He asked her for a date and when she asked, “Do you dance?” he said no so she told him, “Well, if you date me you gotta dance!” He quickly learned and for 71 years they danced everywhere they lived and travelled from New York City to Paris, France. They lived in Tuscaloosa for 39 years and retired to Hoover, AL.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter Leslie Vaughn Godfrey, of Foley AL, granddog Ray Jay, granddaughter Ariane Vaughn Godfrey (Forrest Tillery) of Northport AL, brother Fred Morgan (Charlene) of Marysville TN. Bobbie was predeceased by her loving husband in 2018.
She was a truly southern lady, an incredible woman, a wonderful decorator, and a caring friend. Her faith was immeasurable. After Leon passed, her only goal in life was to “Get to Heaven” to be with Leon. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is with him again dancing on the clouds.
She will be entombed with her husband at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL. There will be a private graveside service announced at a later date. Her family requests that in lieu of sending flowers you make a donation to your charity of choice.
