Blanche Reid Posey

TUSCALOOSA - Blanche Reid Posey, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died June 11, 2018, at Forest Manor Nursing Facility. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Union Springs, Ala., with Rev. Grant Parker officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Reid; husband, W. T. Posey; daughter, Baby Mary Jean; sister, Mary Reid Creswell; and great-grandchild, Aiden Warren.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Posey Brown of Crestview, Fla. and Ellen I. Posey of Gadsden, Ala.; son, Dr. Robert Posey (Mary Helen) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and grandchildren, Josh Posey, Ian Avery (Laural), Holly Posey James (Mike), Haven Posey Williams (Jason) and Allison Avery Warren (Andy).
Blanche was born in Alva, Okla. and moved to Union Springs, Ala. in 1941. She married Tom in 1943 and followed her sailor. They lived in Washington, D. C. and various naval bases during World War II. They settled in Union Springs after his discharge from the Navy. They moved to Eufaula, Ala. in 1953.
Blanche was a housewife, active in various clubs and also a scout leader. She worked at Bluff City Elementary for 11 years.
Blanche was an active member of White Oak United Methodist Church before moving to Northport, Ala. in 2000. She was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Northport, Ala. at her death.
