Billy Michael Oswalt NORTHPORT - Billy Michael Oswalt, age 66, of Northport, died January 4, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Magnolia Funeral Home North with Rev. Jerry Montgomery and Rev. Ken Bozeman officiating. Burial will follow in Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Neal Oswalt and mother, Betty Jane Corkerin. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Patricia Boyd Oswalt; daughters, Amy Oswalt Shirley (Jarrod) and Ashley Oswalt Smith; sons, Michael Neal Oswalt and Joshua Taylor Powell (Pritha); sister, Malissa Ligon (Damon); brother, Larry Corkerin; grandchildren, Sara Oswalt, John Cayden, Brody and Brantley Shirley, Gage and Parker Oswalt and Olivia ""Livi"" Smith; and his loyal dog and faithful companion, Molly. Billy Mike was born and raised in Samantha, Alabama. After graduating high school, he worked in logging. He later became employed by BF Goodrich and was elected as their health and safety representative. Billy Mike was a strong union man. He was also dedicated to coaching little league football, baseball and softball. He loved his family with his whole heart. He was truly an asset. Pallbearers will be Tim Renfroe, Brandon Ligon, Brian Boyd, Randy Sumner, Rickey Skelton and John Murry Kuykendall. Honorary pallbearers are Northside High School Class of 1967, nurses of DCH Oncology unit, USWA Local 351, Kenneth ""Wa Wa"" Walters, Berry FWB, Hospice of West Alabama, the Samantha community, Tuscaloosa Toyota, Internal Medicine Associates and employees of Alabama One Credit Union. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Nick's Kids Foundation, 1130 University Boulevard, Suite B9-201, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
