Billy R. Fields, age 86 , died October 10, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Visitation will be Friday, October 12, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Circlewood Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Circlewood Baptist Church with Bro. Herbert Thomas officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Moody and Hester Fields, his son; Phillip Fields, brothers; Wilton "Mutt" Fields, James Fields, George Fields, Bobby Jo Fields, and sisters Cora Lee Barger, Sue Owen, and Shirley Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife Ora Fields, son Billy W. Fields (Kay), daughter Renee Robertson (George), grandchildren; Amanda Morgan (Nick), Dixie Patton (Miller), and Jennifer Gray (Briston), 5 great grandchildren; Avery, Emily, Brock, Harper, and Cooper, his sister; Shelby Mitchell and brother in law Dan Kizziah (Doris).
Billy was born June 4, 1932 in Tuscaloosa County, and went on to serve in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 28 years. Billy was a loving husband to Ora for 64 years, an adored father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a devoted Christian man who loved his Lord Jesus Christ. He taught Sunday School at Circlewood Baptist Church, and served as an active deacon for 54 years. Many of his friends and co-workers credit him for leading them to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Pallbearers will be Steve Langford, Phil Maxwell, Chuck Malone, Edwin Stringer, Ken McGee, and Larry McDonald. Honorary Pallbearers include Banks and Tootsie Sims, JC and Lorene Sims, Inez Bullock, Jeanette Gibson, Nell Lunceford, Robin Lunceford, Harold Arrowwood, rev. Doug O' Brien and family, Larry and Marsha Wallace, Danny Dockery, Wint and Betty Patterson and family, Cassondra Upton, Thomas Stamps, Herschel and Harriet Kizziah, Fishers of Men Sunday School Class, Circlewood Baptist Church family, Dr. George Miller, staff of Hospice of West Alabama, and special care giver Nan Harris.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Circlewood Baptist Church Music Ministry.
