Billy "Mack" Michael Bush, born June 14, 1941, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, entered his heavenly address peacefully on September 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old.
Mack was a man of deep faith, kindness, and generosity, having served as a pastor for 30 years. He was always quick to offer a helping hand to those in need. His infectious smile lit up any room, and filled the lives of those around him with deep joy and love. His deep devotion to his family was unmatched, and his grandchildren will always remember his endearing question, repeated throughout the day: " Have I told you I love you today?" His great - grandchildren especially loved to "steal" and hide his prosthetic legs, a playful tradition that brought endless laughter to the family.
Mack was an avid fisherman and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially those spent with his family and friends. He dedicated his life to serving others and making a positive impact on the lives he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne Bush; his son, Michael Joe Bush, and daughter-in-law Karin Bush; his grandchildren, Michelle Bush Hills and her husband Dylan Hills, Jonathan Bush, Gabrielle Bush, and Joshua Bush; and his great-grandchildren, Braxton, Harper and Gracelyn Hills. He is also survived by his sisters, Jeanie Crowder, Judy Free and Peggy Smith; his sisters-in-law, JoAnn, Eleanor, and Rita Bush; and brother-in-law, Danny Ray Smith; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Mack is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Robert and Bertha Bush; his brothers, John, Jimmy, Bobby, Handley (Frances), Robbie, and Stanley (Sandy) Bush; sister, Dianne Theusen (Chris); brother-in laws, Gene Crowder, and Perry Free; Nephews, Carey Free, Steven Smith, and Jim Bob Hutchinson who have joyfully welcomed him home.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at East McFarland Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am with Rev. Chad Palmer, and Rev. Joseph Fowler officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens.
Mack's memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched through his ministry and love.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Peggy Johnson, Vivian Johnson, Jeanie Crowder, Judy Free, Peggy Smith and Amedisys Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to support Mack's granddaughter Gabrielle Bush, who is currently serving as a state-side missionary.
