Billie Jean Davis Smithson, age 92, of Tuscaloosa, AL, died February 3, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at One Hope Church with Rev. John Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the church.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Tim Smithson and Kerry Ball; mother, Mary Taylor Davis; and father, Velo Joe Davis.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Henry L. “Bannie” Smithson; grandchildren, Tanner Wayne Smithson (Natalie) and Macy Lauren Smithson Mills (Cody); great-grandchildren, Paxton, Adeline, Harper, Madden and Vivi Caroline; daughter-in-law, Robbie Smithson Case; and other relatives, Helen DeVaney and Rusty DeVaney.
Billie Jean has had a full life. A lady that has served and been a part of may organizations with accomplishments, honors and rewards. She has bowled over 60+ years. She and Bannie have traveled and been part of many Bowling Tournaments, local and state, over the years.
Bank of Moundville has sponsored Billie Jean for many years while on her Bowling Leagues. She was a member of Tuscaloosa Charter Chapter of American Business Women Association, where she served as president and has been chosen “Woman of the Year”. Billie Jean worked for the City of Tuscaloosa in the Engineering and Inspection Dept. She retired with 33 years of service.
She and Bannie have celebrated 63 years of marriage (Married April 26, 1958). She was a woman with a big heart, love for family and friends, and faithful to her Lord and Savior.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Smithson, Cody Mills, Mike Turner, Ronnie Shuttlesworth, George Nassaney, Bobby Hughes, Mike Snyder and David Hodo.
