Betty Odom

Betty Jo Odom, age 62, of Ralph, AL, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Northport Medical Center. Services will be directed by Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home, Hwy 69 North, Northport, AL. Visitation to be Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 1:00 pm and Service to begin at 2:00 pm with Minister Clark Sims officiating. Burial to follow at Christian Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery, Hwy 17, Millport, AL.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Flora Dean Johnson Van Horn; father, John Richard Van Horn; brother, John Richard Van Horn Jr.; grandson, Nathan Odom, and granddaughters, Lillian Odom and Valor Gurganus.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Gary Leon Odom of Ralph, AL. Betty is also survived by her sons, Charles Steiner (Kylie) and Caleb Odom (Christine) and her daughters, Leah Shepherd (Trenton) and Bethany Gurganus (John Michael); her thirteen grandchildren; brothers, Donald Van Horn (Bekah), Carl Van Horn (Amy), Bob Van Horn (Darla), and many nieces and nephews; one uncle, Johnny Johnson (Fran) and many beloved cousins.
Betty was a devoted Christian, a loving wife, a proud mother and grandmother, and an outstanding Registered Nurse. She found her passion of Nursing working in the Operating Room for most of her Nursing career. She also loved to sing and care for her beloved Bostons. She was a dear friend to all and will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers are Caleb Odom, Trenton Shepherd, John Michael Gurganus, Andy Williams, Cody Sullivan, and Jay Waldrop.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Browne, the ICU nursing staff, former coworkers, physicians, and surgeons in the OR and outpatient areas at Northport Medical Center.
