Betty Alice Kynard

MOUNDVILLE - Betty Alice Kynard, age 80, of Moundville, Ala., passed away November 7, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, at Moundville Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Duckett and Chris Kynard officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, at Moundville Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Brylan Skelton, Keith Johnston, Chris Kynard, Howell Poole, Robert Lake, and George Lake. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Moundville Baptist Church Senior Men's and Women's Sunday School Class, Macon Beckham, Jackie Fields, and current and past employees of the Bank of Moundville.

She was born on May 31, 1938 to George Rufus and Virginia Davis Johnston of Moundville Alabama. She was a graduate of Hale County High School in 1956. She married Edward Hugh Kynard of Greensboro, Alabama in 1961. They settled in Moundville, Alabama. They had two sons, Michael Hugh Kynard, age 54, of Madison, Alabama and Matthew Edward Kynard, age 43, of Northport. She retired from The Bank of Moundville after 55 years of service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Kenneth Ray Johnston and George Edwin Johnston, and her sister Mary Ellen Thrasher. She is survived by her husband Edward Hugh Kynard, her sons Michael Hugh Kynard and Matthew Edward Kynard (Leslie), her grandson Brylan Austin Skelton, and her granddaughters Summer Alyse Kynard and Acadia Michelle Kynard. She is also survived by her brothers Robert Howell Johnston and Dale Allen Johnston; her sisters Janice Folmar and Peggy Jo Daniels.

Known to many as "Mrs. Betty Alice", she enjoyed time with all her friends as they came to the bank, playing and singing music, playing with her grandchildren, and going to football games to root for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that a donation be made to the Moundville Baptist Church.
