Betty Mae Johnson COTTONDALE | Betty Mae Johnson, age 101 of Cottondale, Ala., passed away on July 4, 2014 at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. George Jackson and Rev. Paul Peoples officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Johnson; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas; her brothers, James Thomas, John W. Thomas, Lester G. Thomas, Sam E, Thomas, Herbert and Hudson Thomas, Thomas Bevil Thomas, and Troy Thomas; and a sister, Kathlene Thomas Stuart. She is survived by her daughter, Shiann Norris (Larry); her grandchildren, Neil Norris and Noelle Norris; special children, James W. Thomas (Brenda), William N. Thomas (Karen), John Thomas (Karen), Martha Green, Bessie Booth (Jerry), and a host of nieces and nephews. She was born in Bibb County, Alabama on May 7, 1913 and, at 101 years old, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 4, 2014. She was a long time member and Sunday School teacher at Southside United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a talented seamstress, wonderful cook, and neighborhood nurse. She and her husband were known for their generous spirit, never turning anyone away who needed help. Pallbearers will be Mike Bush, Jeff Thomas, Glenn Booth, Farley Green, III, Eldridge Stewart and Eric Thomas.
