Betty Jo Drake, 84 of Greensboro, passed away February 3, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Greenboro with Bro. Dee McGuire officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Alpheus B. Drake, Jr., daughter-in-law; Kristie Drake, parents; Weaver and Pearl Adams, and siblings; Henry Adams, Buck Adams, Don Adams, and Peggy Alverson.
Survivors include her son; Dennis Drake, sisters; Odean Smith, Judy Montz, Lorene Allen, and Sue Lathum, brother; Randy Adams, grandchildren; Tyler Drake, Dawson Drake, Avery Drake, and Abigail Drake and many nieces and nephews.
Betty Jo Adams Drake was born in Greensboro, Alabama on May 27, 1940 to Weaver and Pearl Adams. Betty Jo was one of 10 children, 6 girls and 4 boys. She grew up on her family's farm where she learned to farm and tend to younger brothers and sisters. Betty Jo married the love of her life, Alpheus B. Drake, Jr. in February of 1958. They had one child, a son, Dennis Drake. Betty Jo enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and just being a mother, but her biggest love was fishing! She would spend hours "wetting the hook". Betty Jo had 4 grandchildren whom she adored and she loved visiting with them and babysitting. Betty Jo attended Greensboro Baptist Church where she was a member of the F.I.D.E.L.I.S Sunday School class.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Cook, Tyler Drake, Dawson Drake, Avery Drake, Wayne Adams, and Ray Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be FIDELIS Sunday School class @ Greensboro Baptist Church and The Greensboro High School class of 1958.
