BETTY TAYLOR DAVIS
MOUNDVILLE - Betty Taylor Davis, of Moundville, Alabama passed away on March 14, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J. B. Davis; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Davis.
Betty is survived by her children, Broderick Davis (Regina), Beverly Davis, Keith Davis and Karen Davis-Hudson (Dan); grandchildren, Mandi, Katie, Jon, Lindsey, Leah, Nicholas and Lukas; and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Stella Grace and Wesley; sister, Ann Shealy.
Betty married her handsome Navy man and went from a family of four to a family of who knows how many. They embraced her as their own and she returned the affection. She embraced their faith as well and never wavered from it. Betty taught Sunday school for decades and sang in her church choir. Her last words weren't words. They were songs glorifying the Christ she so humbly served.
Betty was a source of delight. She loved holidays, birthdays, vacations and family gatherings. Betty adored her grandchildren and they adored her. Whatever Grannie cooked just tasted better to them. She planned games, prizes and practical jokes like it was a war strategy.
She was retired from Hale County High School. All students were charged a nickel for a pencil because she wanted students to value that pencil. Betty enjoyed her celebrity with former students and while the names were lost as her memory faded, she smiled brightest when former students would greet her with a hug and words of affection.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Big Sandy Baptist Church with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Big Sandy Baptist Church.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed" is in Proverbs, but we were the blessed ones, Mama. Forever blessed.
