Bertha Shuttlesworth

Bertha Mae Shuttlesworth, age 71, of Cottondale, Ala., died December 21, 2017, at home. Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Cullen Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Shuttlesworth; parents, Giles B. Colburn and America Garner; brothers, James Colburn and Charles Colburn; daughter, Tammy Simpkins; and sons-in-law, Brett Hallum and Michael Hartman. Survivors include Ann Hallum and Vicky Barner (Tim); sister, Laura Bigham; son-in-law, Chuck Simpkins; honorary daughter, Brenda Sansom; grandchildren, Jason Shuttlesworth (Christine), Paul Hartman (Kayla), Chrissy Cassavaugh (Dusty), Rachel Madison, Daniel Hallum and Chase Simpkins; great-grandchildren, Steven Cassavaugh and Jackson Wade. Bertha was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and a friend to everyone. She devoted her life to her family and to the Lord. Pallbearers will be Jason Shuttlesworth, Paul Hartman, Daniel Hallum, Tim Barner, Brad Weaver and Ray Colburn. Honorary pallbearers are Rayford Higdon and members of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
