Bentley Parker

Bentley Parker | NORTHPORT Bentley "Buddy" Parker of Northport died peacefully February 26, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. He was born in Rabun County, Georgia on January 27, 1936. He was 76 years old. He was married to the late Mary Ann Parker, who passed away in August 2004. He is survived by his three brothers and two sisters; his daughters, Tammy Fendley of Moundville and Teresa Patterson of Tuscaloosa; and sons, Tim Parker of Tuscaloosa and James Bentley Parker of Hahira, Georgia. His grandchildren are Brent Patterson, Ashton Patterson, Amanda Fendley, Megan Parker, Mary-Katherine Parker, and Layne Parker. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Cottondale Wood Products as a truck driver and while employed, received the "One Million Mile Safe Driver Award" from Ryder. He loved dirt track racing, NASCAR, and watching old westerns. You could always see him at the dirt track races with his overalls on watching his son Tim, driving open wheel car #37. He truly loved racing and passed the love of racing on to his son Tim. He was looking forward to being at Magnolia Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on March 3, 2012, which is the first race of the season. He was also looking forward to seeing his son Tim drive super late model this year. He will be missed by his 14 year old rat terrier Prissy. He enjoyed his community on Acker Road in Northport where the Clarkes (Tommy, Margaret, and children) loved him like family. Many thanks go out from his family to the ladies at Moundville Rehab in Moundville for taking such wonderful care of their father. Special thanks to the ICU at DCH for your kindness during the family's loss. A celebration of Mr. Parker's life will take place at his daughter's home in Moundville. For more information, please call 205-454-1966. He will be laid to rest in Lenox, Georgia next to his wife Mary Ann. Published in Tuscaloosa News on March 2, 2012
