Barbara Taylor Roberts NORTHPORT | Barbara Taylor Roberts, age 81 of Northport, died October 23, 2017. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Murray, Ky. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Leslie and Neva Mae Taylor, sisters; Ruvene Moffitt, Martha Wallace, and Lottie VanEtten, brothers; Codie Taylor, Bill Taylor, and Ruble Taylor. Survivors include her daughter, Shannon Roberts Morris and her husband Bill, her son Dr. Stephen Alan Roberts and his wife, Melinda of Northport, sisters; Mae Frances Vance, Sylvia Sanert and Lynda Cooper all of Murray, Ky. ; her grandchildren, Jessica Lauren Newby (Andrew), Dakota Cates Roberts, and Savannah Leigh Morris; great grandchildren, Emma Jeanne and Cora Mae Newby; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Roberts was born in Calloway County, Kentucky. She attended Murray State University where she received her bachelor of science and master degree in Home Economics and Science. Most of her career was spent teaching in Crittenden County Kentucky and she was awarded Educator of the Year for Crittenden County in 1969. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Five Points Baptist Church in Northport. She enjoyed decorating, sewing, crafts, flowers and reading. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society PO Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK. 73123 or charity of one's choice.
