Barbara Ann McCrory Abernathy (Bobbie), 90, of Greensboro, Alabama peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord, surrounded by family on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Hospice of West Alabama.
Bobbie, also known as "the cake lady", was well-loved for her sweet creations that graced the table of many birthdays, weddings and special occasions in the Greensboro community and beyond. She was as sweet as the sweets she baked, her laugh and smile were contagious and she always had time to talk to you. She attended Bible Methodist Church and was affectionately known as "Mama" by many.
She was born, January 4, 1935, in Hale County, Alabama to John Sidney McCrory and Margaret Evelyn Chapman McCrory.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Ann Sanders (David), Debra Reynolds (Scott); Grandchildren, Matthew Reynolds (Kyla), Allison McIntyre (Dustin), Thomas Reynolds (Ninna); and 5 Great-Grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Abernathy, her parents, Sid and Maggie McCrory; sisters, Mildred Swanson, Gayzelle Thomas, Peggy Coley; brother, J.D. McCrory and her daughter, Lisa Abernathy Washburn.
Pallbearers will be David Sanders, Scott Reynolds, Rick Washburn, Matthew Reynolds, Dustin McIntyre and Thomas Reynolds.
Visitation will be held at Greensboro Baptist Church Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm and the service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Dee McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Greensboro, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations in memory of Barbara Abernathy be made to Hospice of West Alabama or an organization of your choice.
