Andrew Pete Cicero TUSCALOOSA Andrew Pete Cicero, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 23, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be Thursday, April 26, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Circlewood Baptist Church. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Circlewood Baptist Church with Dr. Herbert Thomas officiating. Graveside service will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Mr. Cicero was born on January 18, 1931, to Louie P. and Hazel H. Cicero in Praco, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Louise Martin and Margaret Vik; and two brothers, Johnny Cicero and James Cicero. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Clara McReynolds Cicero; two devoted children, Pamela Cicero Newcomb and her husband, Dr. John Newcomb, and Andy Cicero and his wife, Donna Patterson Cicero; and four wonderful grandchildren, Drew Cicero, Anna Claire Cicero, Samuel Newcomb, and Sophia Newcomb. Mr. Cicero served his country as a Private First Class in the United States Army and completed a tour of active duty from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. After his wartime service, he returned to Tuscaloosa and began his 27 year career with Gulf States Paper Corporation. After the closure of the plant, he continued to work until his retirement in 1993 from Elk Roofing Company. A Christian gentleman, Mr. Cicero was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an active member of Circlewood Baptist Church where he served as a greeter, welcoming so many into God's house each Sunday with a warm smile. He also enjoyed Alabama football and baseball and supported these Crimson Tide teams by serving for many years as a gate attendant and program manager. Mr. Cicero treasured his many friendships and was a devoted friend. He will be deeply missed by the many whose lives he touched. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Drew Cicero and Samuel Newcomb; and nephews, Tony Brock, Bud McReynolds, Danny Sumner, Mike Sumner, and Randy Cicero. Honorary pallbearers include all members of the Circlewood Baptist Church PAC Class, former employees of Gulf States Paper Corporation and Elk Roofing Company, as well as his medical care providers.
