Andre Brian Robertson NORTHPORT Andre Brian Robertson, age 50, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2013, at Glen Haven Rehabilitation Facility after a brief and hard fought battle with Stage 4 Melanoma Cancer. Andre was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, neighbor, teacher and friend. He will be dearly missed. The funeral will be held at Macedonia United Methodist Church outdoor pavilion overlooking Lake Tuscaloosa at 10:00 am on Saturday August 24, 2013 with the Reverend Rock Stone officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be after the service in the church fellowship hall. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Aaron Robertson, and grandparents Belva and Sherman Bolton, and J.D. and Myra Marie Robertson. Survivors include his mother, Sirley Bolton Robertson; his sister, Pamela Simpson and her husband Tom; his brother, Joseph Duane Robertson and his wife Jan; and his nieces and nephews, Mary Elizabeth Robertson, Emily Teresa Simpson, William Aaron Robertson, and John Patrick Simpson. Mr. Robertson grew up in Northport and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1981. He attended The University of Alabama where he earned a BS in Science and Masters Degree in Secondary Education. He earned his Administrative Certificate from The University of West Alabama. A dedicated educator, he was on the faculty of Holt High School for 23 years where he taught science. He was also on the coaching staff at Holt. Andre was a long-time member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoors man and a member of the Tuscaloosa County Farmers Market. Andre's larger than life personality meant that he never met a stranger and that he valued his family and friends above all else. Pallbearers will be Dennis Boswell, Danny Long, Jerry Wright, Ray Glenn, Butch Thomas, Randy Gurganus, Steven Shirley and Brandon Booth. Honorary Pallbearers are his Macedonia United Methodist Church Family, his Close Friends, Carrols Creek Community, Windham Springs and Wiley Communities, Tuscaloosa County High School Class of 1981, Faculty and Staff at Holt High School, Tuscaloosa County Farmer's Market and doctors, nurses and staff of DCH, Glen Haven Rehabilitation Facility and Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church and/or Eagles' Wings.
