Alvin Burns

Alvin Jesse (Butch) Burns, age 67 of Tuscaloosa passed away September 11, 2021 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gene Jordan, Rev. Devin Haun, And Rev. Jimmy Hallman officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard F. Burns and Selvis Absher and stepmother Pauline S. Burns.

Survivors include his wife, Judy H. Burns, sibilings; Tommy Franklin of Prattville, AL., Jamie Gentry (Jessica) of Pinelevel, AL., David Absher (Marg) of Marbury, Lecia Franklin of Prattville,AL., Christy Ramirez (Mario) of Verbena,AL., Martha Slay of Five Points, brother-in-law; Jimmy Harbin (Peggy), sister-in-laws; Shelia Harbin, and Tammy McLemore.

Butch loved life, his family, friends, church and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Butch served as Pianist at Oak Grove Baptist Church for nearly 30 years and also played for several gospel groups. His nieces and great nieces, Amy, Amber, Allison, Jennifer and Alisha were his special helpers, whom he loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Tim Sanford, Marcus Allen, Roger Oglesby, David Absher, Jamie Gentry, and Joe Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be Oak Grove Baptist Church, Orgeonia Baptist Church, Big Sandy Baptist Church, The Lewis Faye Manderson Cancer Center, Dr. John B. Crew, Dr. Susan Bostick, Dr. John Miller, Dr. Jeffery Nix, Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Harold Thredgill, Dr. Gladney, Bryant Animal Hospital staff, 84 Lumber Company, current and former members of the Travel - Aires Quartet, friends of Gary Springs Centreville, Class of 1973 Bibb County High School, Roger and Jean Oglesby, Sylvia Tilley and numerous other friends.
