A. E. Gann NORTHPORT | A. E. Gann, age 85, of Northport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones, on September 25, 2014. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Flatwoods Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flatwoods Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Gann. Survivors include his wife, Bertie Lou Gann; daughters, Brenda Holt (Michael), Tricia Owens, and Sharon Ellis (William); daughter-in-law, Lynn Gann; and sister, Wanda Sanders Vanzant and six Grand childreden J. Michael McCullers (Sydney), Tasha McCrory, Kristie Grandbury, Jessica Holt, Ashley Rogers (Mitch) and Lauren Karcher (Austin) and seven great grandchildren. He was a kind, gentle loving father, husband, Paw Paw and friend who cared deeply for his family. He was a man of great faith who served as a deacon for many years. He was a generous man who always lent a helping hand to those in need. He will be greatly missed by all. Pallbearers will be John Hallman, Cody Vanzant, Mitch Rogers, Austin Karcher, Jim Bohannon, and J. Michael McCullers. Honorary pallbearers are members of Flatwoods Baptist Church and Arbor Springs Baptist Church. The family gives many thanks to his caregivers, Carmen Kennedy, Bethy Jones, Debbie Kennedy, RN Amy Brown, Jill Duke and all of Amedysis Hospice staff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Caring Days.
