Gloria Ann Vaughn Skelton
COTTONDALE – Gloria Ann Vaughn Skelton, age 72, of Cottondale, Ala., died June 14, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 5 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Col. Thomas Vaughn, Jr. officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at Big Creek Cemetery in Coker, Ala. with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Clarice and Randolph Vaughn and brothers, Alton Vaughn, Vernon Vaughn, Bob Vaughn, Tom Vaughn and Harold Vaughn.
Survivors include her daughters, Dana Bartlett (Rick Geuss) of Theodore, Ala., Lisa Pate (Michael) of Cottondale, Ala. and Becci Cantrell (Paige) of Henderson, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Betty Vaughn and Patricia Vaughn, both of Northport, Ala.; and grandchildren, Rhen Bartlett, Drake Bartlett and Emi Bartlett, all of Mobile, Ala. and Lexi Cantrell and Brinley Cantrell, both of Henderson, Tenn.
Gloria was a 1963 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High. She worked for Delphi General Motors for over 30 years. During this time, she was a leader and loyal member of UAW Local 2083 and the West Alabama Labor Council. While she was also active in local and state politics and an organizer for the UAW, her lifelong passion was Alabama football.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are the Duncanville Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Duncanville Volunteer Fire Department.
